Constance Gully Is the New Leader at Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis

HSSUPresident_v6Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis has announced that President Albert Walker has decided to step down from his post after two years on the job. Constance Gully, the university’s long-time executive vice president for business and financial affairs, was appointed interim president. Gully is expected to serve as interim president for up to one year as a nationwide search for a new president is conducted.

Gully has been an administrator at the university for 15 years. She was the university comptroller before taking her current position in 2001.

“Our goal is to make sure that Harris-Stowe is the right choice for every student we serve,” said Interim President Gully. “I look forward to working with students, faculty, staff and the overall St. Louis community to continue Harris-Stowe’s proud tradition of excellence in education. We will continue to foster and embrace our community partnerships.”

A native of East St. Louis, Illinois, Gully is a graduate of Illinois State University and worked as an accountant for 10 years before joining the academic world.
