In Memoriam: Eleanor Helen Hansen, 1921-2013

hansenEleanor “Ele” Hansen, professor emerita of physical education at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, died last week in Northfield. She was 92 years old.

Professor Hansen, a native of St. Paul, Minnesota, served in the WAVES during World War II. Using the GI Bill, she enrolled at the University of Minnesota, where she earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She joined the faculty at Carleton College in 1952 as chair of women’s physical education. She remained on the faculty at Carleton College until her retirement in 1986.
