Women in Higher Education Faculty News

M. Katherine Hutchinson was appointed professor of nursing and associate dean for graduate programs at the Connell School of Nursing at Boston College. She has been serving as an associate professor of nursing at New York University.

Dr. Hutchinson is a graduate of the Michigan State University College of Nursing. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Delaware.

Jenny R. Kehl was named to the Lynde B. Uihlein Endowed Chair in Water Policy at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. She will also serve as director of the Center for Water Policy in the university’s School of Freshwater Sciences. She has been serving as an associate professor of public policy and administration and political science at Rutgers University in New Jersey.

Professor Kehl is a graduate of Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in comparative political economy from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Emily Fox was named to the statistics department faculty at the University of Washington. She will also hold an adjunct faculty post in computer science and engineering at the university. Dr. Fox comes to the University of Washington from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was an assistant professor at the Wharton School.

Dr. Fox earned her Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Kamani Lankachandra was appointed chair of the department of pathology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. She has served as interim chair for the past two years. Her research focuses on the pathology of lung disease.

Dr. Lankachandra earned her medical degree at the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka.

The First Woman President of Schenectady County Community College in New York

Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
