Jean Bartels was promoted to provost and vice president for academic affairs at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro. Since April 2011, she has served as dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences at the university. From 1999 to 2010, Dr. Bartels was chair of the School of Nursing at Georgia Southern. Previously, she served from 1990 to 1999 as head of the nursing program at Alverno College in Milwaukee.
Dr. Bartels is a past president of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. She is a graduate of Alverno College and holds a master’s degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee. Dr. Bartels earned a doctorate in nursing at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
