Carol A. Christy, professor emerita of political science at the Lancaster campus of Ohio University, has died after a six-year battle with multiple system atrophy. She was 68 years old.
Professor Christy was a native of California but grew up in Marietta, Ohio. She was a magna cum laude graduate of Duke University and earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in political science at Ohio State University.
Dr. Christy joined the faculty at Ohio University in 1970 as an instructor. She rose through the ranks and was named a full professor in 1988. She retired from teaching in 2000 and was honored with emerita status the next year.
Dr. Christy was the author of Sex Differences in Political Participation: Processes of Change in Fourteen Nations (Praeger Publishers).
