Holly Richter to Lead the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons

Holly E. Richter was named president-elect of the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons. She will serve a one-year term as president-elect and then become president in 2013.

Dr. Richter holds the J. Marion Sims Endowed Chair in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is the director of the Division of Women’s Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Richter is the author of more than 200 articles published in peer-reviewed journals. She earned a Ph.D. in molecular biology at University of Manitoba in Canada and her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
