In Memoriam: Colleen J. McElroy, 1935-2023
In 1983, Dr. McElroy became the first Black woman to serve as a full-time faculty member at the University of Washington. From 1995 to 2007, Professor McElroy served as editor of The Seattle Review, a literary magazine based at the university.
In Memoriam: Constance Parry Faulkner, 1936-2023
Dr. Faulkner taught political economy, cultural and women studies, and social theory at Fairhaven College, Western Washington University, from 1968 to her retirement in 1990. She also taught at the University of Utah.
In Memoriam: Reneé Patricia Collins, 1950-2022
While working for Western Washington University Dr. Collins earned a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies at the age of 47. She went on to earn a master’s degree in adult education at Western Washington University and a doctorate in educational leadership from Seattle University.
