Dr. Mazachek is returning to Topeka after serving as president of Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, since last May. Prior to her time at Midwestern State, Dr. Mazachek spent 30 years at Washburn University in various leadership roles, most recently as vice president for academic affairs, chief academic officer, and associate professor.
Dr. Mazachek has been serving as vice president for academic affairs, chief academic officer, and associate professor at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. She joined the faculty there in 1992. Since 2002, she has also served as president and CEO of the Washburn University Foundation.
Professor Taylor, chair of the department of art at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, was killed when she was hit by a truck while bicycling in the Kansas State Time Trial Championship.
Dr. Pat Munzer joined the faculty at Washburn University in 1984 as program director in the respiratory therapy department. She was promoted to full professor in 2009. She has now been named dean of the School of Applied Sciences.
Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, has added 26 new faculty members for the 2013-14 academic year. Of these 26 new hires, there are nine women who were appointed lecturers and eight women who have been appointed to positions as assistant, associate, or full professor.
