Dr. Seaman joined the faculty at Sweet Briar College in Virginia in 1967. She retired from teaching in 1993 at the age of 70. Professor Seaman, who was a U.S. Army nurse. held bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from the University of Virginia.
