The four women appointed to diversity posts in higher education are Romona West at the University of Arkansas, Rhea Roper Nedd at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, Rassheedah "Eda" Watts at the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System, and Janice Hall at Virginia Tech.
The women faculty taking on new duties are Mary E. Graham at Syracuse University in New York, Heather Congdon at the University of Maryland Baltimore, Tracey Sharpley-Whiting at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, and Maja Husar Holmes at the University of Kansas.
The nine women appointed to university dean positions are Grace Kuo, Angela Bos, ReneÌe McDonald Hutchins, Janet Guthmiller, Justine Reel, Buffy Smith, Melissa J. Perry, Terri Miller, and Linda Aldoory.
The four women in higher education who have been hired to new administrative roles relating to diversity are Janice Hamlet at Nothern Illinois University, Araceli Frias at Johns Hopkins University, Jerima DeWese at Queens College of the City University of New York, and Diane Forbes Berthoud iat the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
The honorees are Susan G. Esserman, the executive director of the SAFE Center for Human Trafficking Survivors at the University of Maryland Baltimore, Renee Middleton, dean of the College of Education at Ohio University, and Erin Berry-McCrea, a lecturer in the department of communications at Towson University in Maryland.
In late April, Sylvia Trent-Adams became the acting Surgeon General of the United States. Dr. Trent-Adams is a 1987 graduate of Hampton University in Virginia, where she majored in nursing. She went on to earn a master's degree in nursing and health policy and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
Dr. Bolt She has been serving as interim president since November 2014. Previously, she was vice president for academic programs. She has served on the faculty and/or the administrative staff at the college since 1990. Dr. Bolt will be the college's first woman president.
The appointees are Susan Altizer at the University of Georgia, Maria Chudnovsky at Princeton University, Nadine Finigan-Carr at the University of Maryland-Baltimore, Robin Hunicke at the University of California, Santa Cruz, Sarah L. Harris at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Kami Chavis Simmons at Wake Forest University, and Abby Walker at Virginia Tech.
