In her most recent role, Pumariega has been serving as executive vice president and provost at Tallahassee Community College in Florida. Pumariega was appointed as the first woman and first Hispanic chancellor of the Florida College System in 2015.
Thew new deans are Tamara F. Lawson at the St. Thomas University School of Law in Florida, Joann Bangs at Cottey College in Missouri, Sarah Feldner at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Karen Diaz at West Virginia University, and Sujata Moorti at Middlebury College in Vermont.
Irma Becerra was born in Cuba and was raised in Puerto Rico. For the past four years, she has served as provost and chief academic officer at St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida. Earlier she served on the faculty of Florida International University in Miami for nearly 30 years.
Taking on new assignments are Ambika Mathur at Wayne State, Angela High Pippert at St. Thomas University, Patricia Henning at the University of New Mexico, Jane Sykes at the University of California, Davis, Amy Pruden at Virginia Tech, Jane Grande-Allen at Rice, and Laurie R. Santos at Yale.
Irma Becerra-Fernandez, who holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, had been serving as vice president in the Office of Engagement at Florida International University in Miami. Earlier she was vice provost for academic affairs and a professor of business administration at FIU.
