After earning a doctorate at the University of Minnesota, Dr. White-Newman joined the faculty at St. Catherine University in 1975. She served on the faculty for 30 years, retiring in 2005 as an associate professor of speech communication.

For the past 11 years, Roloff has served as president and chief executive officer of the YWCA of Minneapolis. Earlier in her career, she served in executive posts at American Express Financial Advisors, Pillsbury, and Cargill. She is a former chair of the board of trustees of St. Catherine University.
