Dr. Wilks joins Coppin State University from Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Florida, where she most recently served as associate provost for academic operations, programs, and institutional planning, research, and effectiveness. Earlier, Dr. Wilks was an administrator and associate professor of English at Shaw Univerity in Ralegh, North Carolina.
Taking on new roles are Laura J. Crossey at the University of New Mexico, Michelle Effros at Caltech, Erin H. Moore at Shaw University in North Carolina, Myriam Heiman at MIT, Tania Bruguera at Harvard University, Luzita Vela at the University of Arkansas, Francine Berman at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and La Toya Hart at Jackson Stte University in Mississippi.

Newly appointed to dean posts are Shari Veil at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lynette I. Wood at Shaw University in Raleigh, Maura Daly Iversen at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, Browne C. Lewis at North Carolina Central University, Kara Shustrin at Southern Illinois Univerisity Edwardsville and Elizabeth Wentz at Arizona State University.
The new deans are Monica Adya at the Rutgers University-Camden business school, Valerie A. Johnson at the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities at Shaw University in Raleigh, Sarah Gehlert at the School of Social Work at the University of Southern California and Amy Waer at the medical school at Texas A&M University.
Dr. Dillard had been serving as interim president of Shaw University since June 2017. Previously, she was the vice president of academic affairs and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the university. Dr. Dillard is a trained medical technologist certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathology.
Dr. Dillard has served as a department chair, dean, and vice president of academic affairs at the university. She will serve as interim president while a nationwide search is underway to find the next permanent president of the university.
