A scholar of American urban history, Dr. Boehm has previously held academic leadership roles at Bridgewater State University, Manhattanville College, and Worcester State University. She will begin her new position with Saginaw Valley State University in January.
Professor Tapp, who joined the faculty in the university’s College of Education in 2002, teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. She currently is on sabbatical from SVSU, working with NASA as a Jet Propulsion Laboratory education executive in residence.
As the end of the academic year is upon us and a new one is ready to dawn, colleges and universities throughout the United States are appointing deans to head their colleges and schools. Here are eight women who have been appointed to dean positions.
The six women stepping down are Gladys Zubulake at Saginaw Valley State, Grace Scheibner at Harvard, Carol Gattis at the University of Arkansas, Meredith Schmidt at the University of Massachusetts, Sue Riseling at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Carla Dieter at the University of South Dakota.
The honorees are Deborah A. Hogan of the School of Medicine at Dartmouth College, Carine M. Feyten, President of Texas Woman's University, Elaine H. Zackai of the University of Pennsylvania, Emelia J. Benjamin of the Boston University School of Medicine, and Merry Jo Brandimore of Saginaw Valley State University.
The five honorees are Karyn Tomczak of Western Carolina University, Marlene Salas-Provance of New Mexico State University, Cara Blue Adams of Coastal Carolina University, Marilyn Skrocki of Saginaw Valley State University, and Carol Lorenzen of the University of Missouri.
