Universities Announce the Appointment of Three Women to Dean Positions
Lisa Hammersley was appointed dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Sacramento State University in California. Ashley M. Stokes was appointed dean of University of Tennessee Extension and Karen K. Petersen has been named dean of the Kendall College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma.

Jackie Rees Ulmer will be the next dean of the College of Business at Ohio University and Amy Waer was appointed dean of the Texas A&M University College of Medicine. Robin Carter was named dean of College of Health and Human Services at Sacramento State University and Lynda Coon was appointed interim library dean at the University of Arkansas.
Lori Varlotta Will Be the First Woman to Lead California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks
Dr. Varlotta comes to Cal Lutheran having served as president of Hiram College in Ohio since 2014. Earlier, she spent 11 years at Sacramento State University, ultimately serving as senior vice president of planning, enrollment management, and student affairs.
Meredith College to Offer New Programs in Entrepreneurship
The School of Business at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. will offer an interdisciplinary minor in entrepreneurship for women undergraduate students. Students in the co-educational MBA program at the college also will be able to concentrate in entrepreneurship.
The First Woman President of Hiram College
Dr. Varlotta has been serving as senior vice president for planning, enrollment management, and student affairs at California State University, Sacramento. When she begins her new role in August, she will be the first woman president since Hiram College’s founding in 1850.

Kathaleen Reid-Martinez was named provost at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Frederika Harmsen was appointed provost at Sacramento State University in California and Karla Hughes was named provost of the University of Louisiana System.
