Four years after she was named the first woman president of the University of Texas at Arlington, Dr. Cowley has announced that she will step down and return to the faculty.
Prior to her new role, Dr. Walsh was dean and campus director of the University of Maine at Machias. Before that, she spent more than a decade with St. Bonaventure University in New York.
Dr. Amos served as dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Utah for two decades. During her long tenure, she also served as associate vice president for health sciences and as founding chair of the Presidential Commission on the Status of Women.
In 1965, Dr. Huang became the first woman hired to a tenure-track professorship in the physical sciences at Johns Hopkins University. An expert in genetics, she authored more than 300 papers, held 16 patents, and mentored more than 100 students and postdocs throughout her lifetime.
The women who have been selected for endowed faculty appointments are Maria Geisinger at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Indira U. Mysorekar at Pennsylvania State University, Triparna Sen at Ohio State University, and Jennifer Lemke at the University of Nebraska Omaha.
Dr. Howard joins Spelman from Ohio State University, where she has been serving as dean of the College of Engineering. She is a nationally recognized expert in robotics, artificial intelligence, and human-centered technology.
Dr. Leitzel served as the seventeenth president of the University of New Hampshire from 1996-2002. Earlier, she served as provost and interim chancellor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and spent 25 years on the faculty of Ohio State University.
The Social and Affective Neuroscience Society has announced the inaugural class of SANS Fellows. The society is recognizing scholars who have made exceptional contributions to the field. The new fellows are Chelsea Helion of Temple University, Kristen Lindquist of Ohio State University, and Abigail Marsh of Georgetown University.
Dr. Park, dean of the Samueli School of Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles, is known for her research on sustainable energy and materials conversion pathways with an emphasis on integrated carbon capture, utilization, and storage technologies.
Dr. Recasner has over two decades of experience as a tenured faculty member and senior administration in higher education. She has been serving as the interim president of Seattle Central University.
