Leonard joined the staff at the college in 2007 as coordinator of grants and the annual fund. She moved up the ranks to senior vice president of college advancement. In this role she raised $5 million to fund the college's new Health Science Technology Center. Currently, she serves as executive vice president at the college.
President Loeschke became president of Towson University on January 1, 2012. For the previous five years she has been president of Mansfield University in Pennsylvania. Earlier, she was provost at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
Maravene Loeschke announced that she was taking a leave of absence from her post for the remainder of 2014. In April, President Loeschke stated that she had been diagnosed with cancer of the adrenal gland.
The complaints allege violations of Title IX resulting in "an ongoing failure of these universities to provide equal athletic opportunity to their students and, in some cases, equal financial assistance and recruitment."
