A member of the Mercer University community for over 25 years, Dr. Elkins is slated to become the institution's first woman president on January 1. She has been serving as Mercer's interim provost.

The appointments are Soledad Peresin at Clemson University, Marina Zaloznaya at Arizona State University, Tiffany Sippial at the University of Alabama, Kristen Gibson at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Amber Stephenson at Penn State Harrisburg, Jessica West at the Mitchell Hamline School of Law, Cathy Yang Liu at Georgia State University, and Sinéad Ní Chadhain at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
The appointments are Amelia Gallitano at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, Kisha Cunningham Aites at Savannah State University, Xi Song at the University of Pennsylvania, and Elaine Liu at Georgia State University.
The new deans are Bonnie Rush at Texas A&M University, Courtney Anderson at Georgia State University, Kirsten Martin at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Jessica Brooks at Virginia State University, and Jilian Trabulsi at the University of Delaware.
The women who have been promoted to new faculty ranks are Lydia Kavraki at Rice University, Laura Vogel at Illinois State University, Daphne Greeberg at Georgia State University, Qing-Xiang Sang at Florida State University, and Julie Collins-Dogrul at Whittier College in California.
