The five new deans are Tomoko Sakomura at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, Earnstein Dukes at Texas Tech University, Faiza Khoja at Texas A&M University-Central Texas, Kathy Wolfe at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, and Jacqueline Hill at Florida Memorial University in Miami Garders.

Pam Jackson has been named provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina and Adrienne Cooper has been named provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens.
In Memoriam: Michelle R. Howard-Vital, 1953-2018
Dr. Howard-Vital became Cheyney University’s eleventh and first woman president in 2007. She served in that role until 2014. After stepping down as president of Cheyney Univerity, Dr. Howard-Vital was named provost at Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens. A year later, she was appointed interim president.

In 2016, Dr. Michelle Howard-Vital was chosen to serve as executive vice president and provost at Florida Memorial University. From 2007 to 2014, she was president of Cheyney University in Pennsylvania.

From 2007 to 2014, Dr. Michelle Howard-Vital was president of Cheyney University in Pennsylvania. Earlier in her career, she served as interim chancellor of Winston-Salem State University and as associate vice president for the University of North Carolina System.
The First Woman President of Florida Memorial University
Roslyn Clark Artis was appointed president of the Florida Memorial University. She is the first woman to serve as president in the historically Black university’s 135-year history. Dr. Artis has been serving as interim president for the past six months.

After a career in law, in 2003 Artis joined the the staff at Mountain State University in West Virginia as senior academic officer for distance education. In 2010 she was named the university chief academic officer.
Mary A. O’Banner Appointed to Lead Florida Memorial University
Mary A. O’Banner, who joined the university’s staff in 1989 and most recently served as chief of staff in the Office of the President, was named acting president replacing Henry Lewis III, who was inaugurated as the university’s 12th president earlier this year.
