In Memoriam: Luciana Antonia Opassi Bohne, 1939-2023
Between 1977 and her retirement in 2014, Professor Bohne taught courses in film, world literature, English, and women’s studies at a number of educational institutions, including Allegheny College, Mercyhurst University, and Penn State Behrend. At Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, she was tenured and taught for more than two decades, rising to the rank of University Professor.
In Memoriam: Marilyn Ann Melhuish, 1934-2023
After teaching first grade in the public schools in Montrose, Pennsylvania, Melhuish joined the faculty at Edinboro University in Pennsylvania in 1960. She taught elementary students at the campus school and taught and advised college-level students as an assistant professor of education.

For the past three years, Glynis Fitzgerald has served as senior vice president and provost at Alvernia University, a private Catholic institution in Reading, Pennsylvania. Earlier, Dr. Fitzgerald served as associate vice president of academic affairs and dean for the school of graduate studies at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain.

Victoria L. Bastecki-Perez has been selected to serve as the college’s sixth president. She has been serving as interim president so the appointment is effective immediately. Dr. Bastecki-Perez has been on the staff at the college since 1996 and was provost and vice president for academic affairs before being named interim president.

According to a lawsuit, Melissa Soboleski, the women’s volleyball coach at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, earned $64,344 in 2016 while male coaches in similarly categorized sports earned as much as $120,872.

Carolyn Merry, former professor and chair of the department of civil, environmental, and geodetic engineering at Ohio State University, was killed in an automobile crash on June 3 on Interstate 71 in Madison County, Ohio.
