Dr. Johnston was president of the College of Coastal Georgia. Previously, she served as president of the University of Rio Grande in Ohio and held administrative and faculty positions with the University of Montevallo in Alabama, the University of Louisiana Monroe, and Mississippi State University.
In 1991, Dr. Lord was appointed president of Brunswick Community College in Georgia. She was the first woman to lead a community college in Georgia. During her tenure, she prepared the educational institution for a transition into a four-year college, which was renamed the College of Coastal Georgia.
The College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick announced that Meg Amstutz will assume the role of interim president on July 1, after current president Greg Aloia retires. Currently, she is a professor of English and associate provost for academic programs at the University of Georgia.
The women in new teaching roles at colleges and universities are Elana Ehrlich, Linda Reed, Wendy Lower, Maureen Moriarity, Carrie Brown, Petra Fromme, Tammy Kirkland, Bonnie Asselin and Courtenay G. Miller.
Currently, Beth Weatherby is provost and vice president for academic and student affairs at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall. She has been on the faculty at the university since 1992.
