A faculty member at the University of California, Davis for nearly 30 years, Dr. Gilbert was a scholar of feminist literature. She was the author of numerous poetry books, memoirs, and academic publications.

Since September 2018, Dr. Sandeen has been serving as chancellor of the University of Alaska Anchorage. Prior to that role, Dr. Sandeen was chancellor of the University of Wisconsin Colleges and the University of Wisconsin Extension. She will become president of California State University, East Bay on January 4.
In 1976, Dr. Yalom was hired as deputy director of the Center for Research on Women at Stanford University. Later she was a senior scholar at the Clayman Institute for Gender Research at Stanford, where she served as director from 1984 to 1985.
Susan Gubernat of California State University, East Bay won the Prairie Schooner Book Prize in Poetry. Venita Blackburn of Arizona State University is the winner of the short fiction award.
Dr. Rees was dean of graduate studies at the City University of New York and then served for 17 years as president of what is now California State University, East Bay.
