The four women appointed to diversity posts are Bobbie Porter at California State University, Dominguez Hills, Pamela Braboy Jackson at Indiana University in Bloomington, Tomarra Adams at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky, and Damira Grady at Madson College in Wisconsin.
The authors state that "women are especially underrepresented in physics because of a complex interaction of factors, including an unusually chilly climate for women, worse policies and resources for female faculty, and pervasive cultural stereotypes about the inaccessibility and masculine nature of physics."
Since 2012, Dr. Garcia has been president of California State University, Fullerton. Previously, she was president of California State University, Dominguez Hills and CEO of Berkeley College, which operates campuses in the New York City metropolitan area.
Since August 2014, Dr. Linda D. Rose has been the president of Los Angeles Southwest College. Before taking the helm at Los Angeles Southwest College, she served for three years are vice president of academic affairs at Santa Ana College.
Currently, Dr. Borrego is vice president for enrollment management, planning, and student affairs at California State University, Dominguez Hills. She will become president of UM-Flint on August 1.
