Arizona State University’s Ariane Middel Is the New President of the International Association for Urban Climate
Dr. Middel is an assistant professor in the School of Arts, Media and Engineering and the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence at Arizona State. She joined the faculty in 2018. Previously, Dr. Middel was an assistant professor in the department of geography and urban studies at Temple University in Philadelphia.

In Memoriam: Hannah Rose Arterian, 1949-2022
Professor Arterian taught in the College of Law at Arizona State University for 20 years and was the first women to serve as associate dean. In 2002, Professor Arterian was named dean of Syracuse University’s College of Law, a position she held for 13 years.

Since 2014, Dr. Leshin has served as president of Worcester Poytehcnic Institute in Massachusetts. She is the only woman to lead the university in its more than 150-year history. Dr. Leshin will also serve as vice president of the California Institute of Technology, which operates the laboratory for NASA.
Adriana Perez Receives the Research Recognition Award From the National Hispanic Council on Aging
Dr. Perez’s work focuses on programs to increase physical activity among older Latinos. Few physical activity interventions are designed for older Latinos and there is strong evidence that increasing physical activity reduces the risk of cognitive decline among previously sedentary individuals.

She will become provost at the University of Montana next summer.
