The University of Tennessee at Knoxville has announced four finalists for the position of associate provost and director of the Chancellor’s Honors and Haslam Scholars programs. Two of the four candidate are women.
Lori J. Underwood is an associate professor and chair of the department of philosophy and religious studies at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virgina. She is also the director of the university’s Canon Leadership Scholars Program. She joined the faculty at the university in 1999.
Dr. Underwood holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Memphis. She earned a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Missouri.
Rhonda Phillips is a professor in the School of Community Resources and Development at Arizona State University. She is also associate dean of the Honors College.
Dr. Phillips holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi. She earned a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. in city and regional planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
