Bucknell University, the highly rated liberal arts college in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, has announced the promotion of 14 faculty members to full professor. Four of the new full professors are women.
Judith Grisel was promoted to professor of psychology. She joined the Bucknell faculty earlier this year after teaching at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. Dr. Grisel is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in behavioral neuroscience from the University of Colorado. Dr. Grisel is conducting research on gender differences in stress and addiction.
Shara McCallum was named full professor of English. She also serves as the director of the Stadler Center for Poetry at Bucknell. She is the author of four collections of poetry. Dr. McCallum is a graduate of the University of Miami. She holds a master of fine arts degree from the University of Maryland and a Ph.D. from Binghamton University in New York.
Katharina Vollmayr-Lee was promoted to professor of physics at Bucknell. She has taught at Bucknell since 1998. Professor Vollmayr-Lee is a graduate of the University of Göttingen in Germany. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Mainz in Germany.
Constance Ziemian is a professor of mechanical engineering. Professor Zieman holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and an MBA from Cornell University. She earned a Ph.D. in industrial and manufacturing engineering at Pennsylvania State University. Her research is focused on applying hard material coatings to metals to improve their performance.
Dr. Weir is a senior lecturer of global affairs at the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs. She was recently named the inaugural executive director of the Jackson School's new Center for Peace and the Global Good, a hub for scholars and students working to address challenges in human rights and global health.
Dr. Maggioni comes to her new role with more than 15 years of teaching and leadership experience in higher education. Most recently, she was assistant provost at Massachusetts Bay Community College
Dr. Blankenbaker has served as president of the Tarrant County College Northwest campus since 2017. She recently assumed additional responsibilities as the chief academic officer for the community college's online and in-person campuses.
Most recently, Dr. Hooyman was vice president of academic affairs and provost of Northwest Missouri State University. She was the first woman to serve in that role.
Born and raised in Alaska, Dr. O'Hara previously spent more than two decades with the College of Education at California State University, Sacramento. More recently, she was executive director of Sierra College's Nevada County Campus.
