Wendy Elmore has been appointed president of Lamar State College Orange in Texas. She is slated to begin her new role on June 1.
Lamar State College Orange is a public community college within the Texas State University System. The school enrolls over 3,100 students, 62 percent of whom are women.
For the past five years, Dr. Elmore has served as LSCO’s provost and executive vice president for academic and student affairs. Prior to her current position, she spent nearly 14 years with Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas. She held several roles over her long tenure, including vice president of instruction and chief academic officer, associate vice president of academic affairs, director of distance learning, and director of testing. Before her career in higher education, she was an administrator and math teacher for the Elkhart Independent School District.
Dr. Elmore is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas, where she majored in mathematics. She holds a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Texas at Tyler and a doctorate in educational leadership from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.
