Salem College, a liberal arts college for women in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, has recently launched two new academic programs to increase women’s representation in technology fields. The college will offer a bachelor’s degree in computer science with a minor in data science and a digital marketing concentration to accompany the college’s existing business administration major.
The new computer science major will introduce students to areas such as software development, data analysis, and cybersecurity. The program will be offered in a hybrid format, with nine of the required courses available on the Salem College campus and seven courses offered online.
As an addition to Salem’s bachelor’s degree in business administration, the new digital marketing concentration will provide students with an understanding of a rapidly growing industry. Business students who choose to enroll in the new concentration will learn about marketing strategies such as search engine optimization, social media, content creation, and online advertising. The required courses for the new concentration are offered in an online format.
