In Memoriam: Sandy Harmon-Weiss, 1943-2025

Sandy Harmon-Weiss, former professor and board of trustees member at Temple University in Philadelphia, passed away on January 3. She was 81 years old.

Dr. Harmon-Weiss had a long career as a leader in the healthcare industry. After earning her medical degree, she practiced family medicine while teaching at the Temple University School of Medicine. She served as a clinical assistant professor in the department of family medicine and community health from 1978 to 1984. She ultimately left private practice to pursue a career with U.S. Healthcare Inc., currently known as Aetna, including service as vice president and head of core government programs.

After she left her faculty position, Dr. Harmon-Weiss remained a dedicated member of the Temple community. She previously chaired the board of visitors for the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, and served on the board of visitors for the Kornberg School of Dentistry and the Tyler School of Art and Architecture. In 2016, she was named to the Temple University Board of Trustees, a position she held until her passing.

Dr. Harmon-Weiss earned her bachelor’s degree and medical degree from Temple University.
