Gender Pay Gap for Women at British Universities

A study conducted by the Universities and Colleges Employers Association found that women make up 43 percent of all academic staff at universities in the United Kingdom but only 19 percent of academic staff who head departments. The study also found that 23 percent of males academic staff earned more than £50,000, compared to just 9 percent of women in these positions.

A second study found that women academics earn less than their male counterparts at all 11 universities in Wales. On average, males earned about £10,000 more than women.
