Rajaa Shindi, assistant professor of accounting and information systems at New Mexico State University, has received the Volunteer of the Year Award from the Association of Information Systems. The nonprofit organization presents the annual award to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the information system industry and student organizations.
Dr. Shindi was recognized for her leadership in the establishment and guidance of NMSU’s Association of Information Systems student chapter. Since she founded the student organization in 2021, Dr. Shindi has overseen the group’s activities, workshops, and career development opportunities. In 2023, her students won the Association of Information Systems’ New Student Chapter of the Year award.
In 2006. Dr. Shindi joined the New Mexico State University community as a database and system administrator. After 12 years in her staff position, she transitioned to her current faculty appointment with the College of Business. She also currently teaches as an adjunct faculty member with the department of computer and information technology at Doña Ana Community College.
Dr. Shini is a graduate of the University of Technology in Baghdad, Iraq, where she received her bachelor’s degree in computer science. She holds a master’s degree in computer science and a doctorate in human computer interaction from New Mexico State University.
