Indiana University-Northwest Selects Vicki Román-Lagunas as Interim President

Vicki Román-Lagunas has been selected to serve as interim chancellor of Indiana University-Northwest.

Indiana University-Northwest enrolls about 2,900 undergraduate and 300 graduate students. Women represent 75 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Dr. Román-Lagunas has nearly three decades of experience in academic and administrative roles in higher education. She been with Indiana University-Northwest for the past seven years, serving as the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs. Prior to her current role, she spent over two decades with Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. She first joined the university in 1996 as an assistant professor of Spanish and women’s studies. She held numerous leadership roles during her long tenure, eventually rising to the role of acting provost.

Dr. Román-Lagunas holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the College of William & Mary, a master’s degree in Spanish from the University of Arizona, and a Ph.D. in Latin American literature and culture from Florida State University.
