Mississippi University for Women Approved to Establish New Women’s College

Mississippi University for Women has recently received approval from the board of trustees of Mississippi’s Institutions of Higher Learning to establish a new Women’s College.

Students at the university, which has been co-educational since 1982, will soon be able to apply to become 1884 Scholars and 1884 Fellows within the new Women’s College. All students enrolled in the new college, regardless of their major, will take courses that have a specific focus on women’s studies. Upon graduation, the 1884 Scholars and 1884 Fellows will receive a special recognition on their academic record for completing the Women’s College’s curriculum. In the future, the university plans to expand the college’s program offerings, as well as internship, research, and study abroad opportunities.

The new Women’s College at Mississippi University for Women will begin offering courses in the fall 2024 semester.
