Patricia LoRusso Elected President of American Association for Cancer Research

Patricia M. LoRusso has been elected president of the American Association for Cancer Research for the 2024 to 2025 term.

Since 2014, Dr. LoRusso has held numerous faculty, research, and leadership positions with the Smilow Cancer Hospital and the Yale University School of Medicine. She currently serves as the Amy and Joseph Perella Professor of Medicine, chief of experimental therapeutics, and associate director of the Yale Cancer Center.

Prior to her current position, she spent 25 years with the Barbara Karmanos Cancer Institute at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, holding positions such as director of the Phase I Clinical Trials Program and director of the Eisenberg Center for Experimental Therapeutics.

A member of the American Association for Cancer Research for nearly four decades, Dr. LoRusso has served in various committees, boards, and projects for the professional organization. For her service to the association and the field of cancer research, she was elected an American Association for Cancer Research Academy fellow in 2023.

Dr. LoRusso received her bachelor’s degree in religious studies and biology from Marygrove College in Detroit, Michigan, and her doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Michigan State University.
