Barbara Farley Wins Award for Dedication to Students and the Community

Illinois College President Barbara Farley has been named the eleventh recipient of the Courageous Leadership Award presented by Credo a higher education consulting firm.

The award is given annually to a higher education president whose vision and dedication have made an impact on their institution, community, and the students they serve.

Under Dr. Farley’s leadership, Illinois College has marked a host of milestones, including reaching a 10-year high in enrollment of first-time, full-time students this past fall.

Dr. Farley became the fourteenth and first woman president of Illinois College in 2013. Prior to her appointment, Dr. Farley’s career spanned teaching, research, and administrative positions, including more than a decade as vice president of academic affairs and dean of the college at Augsburg College in Minnesota.

President Farley is a graduate of St. Benedict College in St. Joseph, Minnesota. She holds an MBA and a Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Minnesota.
