Rose Hu, associate dean for research at the Utah State University College of Engineering, is this year’s winner of the Women in Communications Engineering Outstanding Achievement Award presented by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Dr. Hu received the award at the 2023 IEEE ComSoc Flagship conference for her outstanding technical work in the broad field of communications engineering and for achieving a high degree of visibility in the field.
Dr. Hu, who specializes in 5G wireless communications and networking research, is a fellow of IEEE and has received many additional honors from the group, including being the incoming editor-in-chief for the IEEE Communications magazine, starting in January 2024.
“It’s an incredible honor to be given the WICE outstanding technical achievement Award,” Dr. Hu said. “I am proud to be a member of IEEE Communications Society and to be of service to its Women in Communications Engineering Committee. To be recognized by my fellow engineers and researchers by this prestigious award is very gratifying.”
Dr. Hu holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China. She earned a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from New York University and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Kansas.
