Three Women Who Have Been Appointed to Endowed Chairs

Hoda Heidari has been named the K&L Gates Career Development Professor of Ethics and Computational Technologies in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Her research is focused on the ethical and societal aspects of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Dr. Heodari joined the faculty at the university in 2020.

Dr. Heidari is a graduate of Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran, where she majored in computer engineering. She holds a master’s degree in statistics and a Ph.D. in computer and information sciences from the University of Pennsylvania.

Robyn LeBoeuf, a professor of marketing and co-vice dean of faculty and research at the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis, was installed as the inaugural Joyce and Chauncy Buchheit Distinguished Professor. She is an expert on consumer behavior, decision making, and marketing research.

Dr. LeBoeuf joined Olin Business School in 2014. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and statistics from American University in Washington, D.C., and a Ph.D. in psychology from Princeton University.

Melinda Buntin has joined the faculty of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore as a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Health Policy and Economics. She holds primary appointments in the department of health policy and management in the Bloomberg School of Public Health and in the Carey Business School. Dr. Buntin comes to Johns Hopkins University from Vanderbilt University, where she was a University Distinguished Professor. She was also the founding chair of the department of health policy.

Dr. Buntin earned a bachelor’s degree in public and international affairs from Princeton University, and her Ph.D. in health policy with a concentration in economics from Harvard University.
