In Memoriam: Bonnie Lee Appleton, 1948-2012

Bonnie Lee Appleton, professor emerita of horticulture at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, died late last month in Norfolk, Virginia. She was 63 years old.

Dr. Appleton joined the Virginia Tech faculty in 1986 and was based at the Hampton Roads Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Virginia Beach. She retired in 2010.

Dr. Appleton held bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Delaware. She earned a Ph.D. at Oklahoma State University.
