Seven Women Who Have Been Assigned New Higher Education Administrative Duties

Odalys M. Diaz Piñeiro was named chief of staff for the president of Howard University in Washington, D.C. She has been serving as chief of staff for the president of Ithaca College in New York. Earlier, she was a senior administrator and advisor to two college presidents in the City University of New York system.

Dr. Diaz Piñeiro is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where majored in political science and communications systems. She received both her master’s and doctoral degrees in education administration from New York University.

Meghan D. Palombo has been promoted to associate vice president for annual giving and philanthropic engagement at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Palombo has been serving as the executive director for annual giving and data analytics at William & Mary. She joined the college as director of direct marketing in 2018.

Palombo is a graduate of Cazenovia College in New York, where she majored in business management. She holds an MBA from the College of William and Mary.

Holly McCoy has been appointed as the chief human resources officer at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. She has been serving in the role on an interim basis since June 2022. McCoy has worked at the uiniversity or more than 20 years, serving in the roles of director of diversity and equal opportunity (2003-06), assistant vice president for diversity and equal opportunity (2006-16), and assistant vice president for human resources and compliance/Title IX coordinator (2016-22).

McCoy is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where she majored in English and government and international studies. She earned a juris doctorate degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Ruthie Little-Berry was appointed chief student development and success officer for the University of the District of Columbia. She was the associate vice president for enrollment management and student success at Florida A&M University.

A graduate of what is now Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Florida, Little-Berry holds two master’s degrees from the University of Phoenix.

Shawna Wolfe was named vice president for institutional support services at the University of New Mexico. She has been serving as associate vice president for university planning at Ohio University in Athens.

Wolfe holds a bachelor’s degree in interior architecture from Ohio University.

Angela Polec was appointed vice president for strategic marketing and communications at Temple University in Philadelphia. Dr. Polec comes to the role after serving in a similar capacity at La Salle University in Philadelphia since 2019. Prior to that, she served as the executive director of marketing and communications at Montgomery County Community College in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Polec holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in marketing, both of which were earned at Temple University’s Fox School of Business. She earned a doctorate in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania.

Joanna E. Curtis will be the next vice president for advancement at Macalester College in Northfield, Minnesota. A 20-year fundraising veteran, she comes from the University of Memphis where she spent 15 years in advancement, most recently as the vice president for advancement.

A member of the Macalester College class of 1997, Curtis graduated with a double major in history and religious studies and a minor in communication studies. She earned a master of public administration degree from the University of Memphis.
