In 2007 Sharon Kugler was named the seventh chaplain of Yale University. She has now been reappointed for another five-year term.
Before coming to Yale in 2007, for 14 years Kugler was chaplain at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. She holds a master’s degree from Georgetown University.
Kugler is a Roman Catholic, but according to Yale President Richard Levin, “she has embraced the religious diversity we find at the University, and she has worked to foster a climate of inclusion, understanding, and respect for all. Through programming and dialog, she has brought together Yale faculty, staff, and students of all faiths. Under her guidance and leadership, student groups with differing views have engaged one another and built strong bonds. Chaplain Kugler has been a counselor to all, exuding a calm and confident presence.”
