Six Women Scholars Who Have Been Appointed Deans

Physicist Nadya Mason has been appointed dean of the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago, effective October 1. She has been serving as the Rosalyn S. Yalow Professor of Physics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she specializes in experimental studies of materials.

Professor Mason is a graduate of Harvard University, where she majored in physics. She holds a Ph.D. in physics from Stanford University.

Lisa Gardner has been named interim dean for the School of Nursing at Florida A&M University. She has been serving as associate dean of graduate programs.

Dr. Gardner is a graduate of Florida A&M University. She holds a master’s degree from Florida State University and a doctorate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Kimberly Reeve was named the KPMG dean of the Frank J. Guarini School of Business at Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City, New Jersey. Dr. Reeve most recently served as the dean of academic affairs at The King’s College in New York City, where she also served as associate professor of business and chair of the business and finance program.

Dr. Reeve earned a bachelor’s degree in government and French from Colby College in Waterville, Maine. She holds an MBA from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, and a Ph.D. in international business management from the International School of Management in Paris.

Janice Kaushal was appointed dean of business and applied technology at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Most recently, she served as dean of career and technical education at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Earlier, she was dean of the Institute of Arts & Design at Robert Morris University Illinois.

Dr. Kaushal earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast communication from Columbia College Chicago. She holds a master of fine arts degree and a Ph.D. in leadership for the advancement of learning and service in higher education from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee.

Cheryl Hunter, professor of education, health & behavior at the University of North Dakota, was appointed interim dean of the College of Education & Human Development. Dr. Hunter has been on the faculty for 12 years.

Dr. Hunter is a graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis, where she majored in sociology. She holds a master’s degree in elementary education and a Ph.D. in history, philosophy, and policy studies with a concentration in international and comparative education from Indiana University Bloomington.

Eboni Zamani-Gallaher has agreed to serve as the Renée and Richard Goldman Interim Dean of the School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh. She is a professor and associate dean for equity, justice, and strategic partnerships at the School of Education. Earlier in her career, she was a professor and spent seven years as director of the Office for Community College Research and Leadership at the University of Illinois.

Professor Zamani-Gallaher holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in experimental psychology from Western Illinois University. She earned a Ph.D. in educational organization and leadership from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Two Women Selected for Key Interim Leadership Roles with the Universities of Wisconsin
