Saundra Tomlinson-Clarke has been promoted to provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. For the past two years, she has been serving as senior vice provost for academic and faculty affairs.
“It takes thriving, fulfilled, and successful faculty members to produce thriving, fulfilled, and successful students – and student success is, of course, our highest goal,” Dr. Tomlinson-Clarke said. “I am grateful for this opportunity and proud to continue supporting our academic mission.”
Dr. Tomlinson-Clarke is a professor in the department of educational psychology at the Graduate School of Education at the university. She has served on the Rutgers–New Brunswick faculty for more than three decades. She also is a licensed psychologist and fellow of the American Psychological Association whose research focuses on the development of culturally responsive interventions to enhance learning. She is the co-editor of Social Justice and Transformative Learning Culture and Identity in the United States and South Africa (Routledge, 2016).
Professor Tomlinson-Clarke earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Boston University. She holds a master’s degree in counseling and guidance from Atlanta University and a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Florida State University.
