Kimberly Rorschach, the founding director of the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, has announced that she will leave the university this fall to become director of the Seattle Art Museum. Dr. Rorschach came to Duke in 2004 when the Nasher Museum was still under construction. Previously, she served for 10 years as director of the David and Alfred Smart Museum of Art at the University of Chicago.
Earlier this year, Dr. Rorschach was elected president of the Association of Art Museum Directors. At Duke, she has served as an adjunct professor of art and chairs the university’s Council on the Arts and the president’s Art Advisory Committee.
Dr. Rorschach is a graduate of Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in art history from Yale University.
