Two Colby College Professors Named to Endowed Chairs

Colby College, the highly rated liberal arts college in Waterville, Maine, has named four faculty members to endowed chairs. Two of the new appointees are women.

Catherine L. Besterman was named to the Francis F. Bartlett and Ruth K. Bartlett Professorship. Dr. Besterman teaches in the department of anthropology.

Professor Besterman is a graduate of Amherst College in Massachusetts. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. at the University of Arizona.

Hanna Roisman was named to the Arnold Bernhard Professorship in the Arts and Humanities. She teaches in the Classics.

Professor Roisman holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Tel Aviv. She earned a Ph.D. at the University of Washington.
