Five Women Scholars Who Have Been Assigned New Duties

Jennifer Borland has been named the first director of Oklahoma State University’s Center for the Humanities. She is a professor of art history at the university. She teaches courses in medieval European and Islamic art history as well as on gender in visual culture. She is the author of Visualizing Household Health: Medieval Women, Art, and Knowledge in the Régime du corps (Pennsylvania State University Press, 2022)

Professor Borland joined the faculty at Oklahoma State University in 2007. She holds a Ph.D. in art history from Stanford University.

Erin Todd Bronchetti was promoted to full professor of economics at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. She joined the faculty at the college in 2007 as an assistant professor. Her areas of interest include public health and economics, labor economics, and public policy.

Dr. Bronchetti is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she majored in economics. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in economics from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

Terry-Ann Jones, professor of political science and director of the Africana studies program at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, has been appointed the deputy provost for undergraduate education at the university. She was on the faculty at Fairfield University in Connecticut for 15 years before joining the faculty at Lehigh University in 2020.

Dr. Jones holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and Latin American and Caribbean studies from York University in Toronto. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in international studies from the University of Miami.

Genevieve Giuliano was appointed Distinguished Professor at the University of Southern California. A professor of public policy with over 35 years at the university, Dr. Giuliano holds the Margaret and John Ferraro Chair in Effective Local Government at the university’s Price School of Public Policy. Her research has shed new light on issues including the intersection of land use and transportation, transportation policy analysis, travel behavior, information technology applications in transportation. and climate change.

Professor Giuliano holds a Ph.D. in social sciences from the University of California, Irvine.

Gloria DiFulvio, a senior lecturer in community health education, has been given the added duties as associate dean for undergraduate academic affairs in the School of Health and Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Dr. DiFulvio is also the director of the university’s undergraduate program in public health sciences.

Dr. DiFulvio is a graduate of Binghamton University in New York, where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology, a master of public health degree, and a Ph.D., all from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Ayanna Howard Appointed the Twelfth President of Spelman College in Atlanta

Dr. Howard joins Spelman from Ohio State University, where she has been serving as dean of the College of Engineering. She is a nationally recognized expert in robotics, artificial intelligence, and human-centered technology.
