Karen Lee Is the New Chancellor of Honolulu Community College in Hawai’i

Karen Lee was appointed chancellor of Honolulu Community College in Hawai’i. Honolulu Community College enrolls just over 3,200 students, according to the most recent data available from the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 46 percent of the student body.

“I am excited and honored to be offered the position of chancellor at Honolulu Community College. Honolulu CC is such a special college with incredible faculty, staff, and students, and with unique and high-performing programs engaged in the community and various industries. I look forward to our continued partnership!” said Dr. Lee.

Dr. Lee began her 21-year career at the University of Hawai’i in 2001 at the MaÌ„noa campus as the undergraduate coordinator at the Shidler College of Business. She then served in the University of Hawai’i System as associate vice president and executive director of HawaiÊ»i P–20 Partnerships for Education, associate vice president for student affairs, and executive assistant to the president. Before coming to Hawai’i, Dr. Lee was the assistant dean of admissions and admission counselor at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, and later served as assistant dean of students and senior assistant director at Columbia University.

Dr. Lee holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in higher education administration from Columbia University. She earned a doctorate in education leadership administration from the University of Southern California
