Three Universities Announced the Appointments of Women Deans

Elisabeth Long has been appointed the next Sheridan Dean of University Libraries, Archives, and Museums at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. She will assume her new position on January 3. Since 2016, she has served as associate university librarian for information technology and digital scholarship at the University of Chicago. She has been on the library staff there since 1993.

Long is a graduate of St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland. She went on to earn a master of library science degree from the University of Maryland with a focus on historical research, archives, and rare books, and later a master of fine arts degree in interdisciplinary book and paper arts from Columbia College in Chicago.

Aisha Morris Moultry has been named interim dean of the recently-established College of Transdisciplinary Studies at Texas Southern University in Houston. The new college will establish a degree pathway for people who started college but did not graduate. Since 2016, Dr. Moultry has served as the associate dean of academic affairs in the university’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences.

Dr. Moultry holds a pharmacy doctorate from Texas Southern University and a Ph.D. in higher education administration from Texas Tech University.

Fany DeJesús Hannon is the new interim dean of students at the University of Connecticut. For the past 10 years, she has been the director of the Puerto Rican/Latin American Cultural Center on campus.

A native of Honduras, Hannon received a bachelor’s degree in Latin American studies and a minor in Brazilian studies from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She holds a master’s degree in higher education student affairs from the University of Connecticut and is completing work on a doctorate in higher education administration from New England College.
