Taleed El-Sabawi is a new assistant professor in the College of Law at Florida International University in Miami. Her research focuses on addiction and mental health policy, politics, and law. Specifically, she has studied opioid overdose deaths, federal administrative regulation of potentially habit-forming substances, and health insurance parity.
Dr. El-Sabawi is a graduate of the University of Southern California. She holds a juris doctorate from the University of Texas and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in public health, health services management, and policy from Ohio State University.
Ehi Rajsky was appointed an assistant professor of accounting at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. Her research and teaching interests include tax compliance, and government and nonprofit organizations.
Dr. Rajsky holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria. She received a master’s degree in accounting from La Salle University in Philadelphia and a Ph.D. in business administration from Temple University in Philadelphia.
Samantha Payne is a new assistant professor of history at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. She is a historian of the U.S. Civil War, with particular interests in slavery, race, and abolition.
Dr. Payne is a graduate of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, where she majored in history and English. She earned a Ph.D. in American history at Harvard University.
Angela Koehler, an associate professor of biological engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was granted tenure. Her research focuses on building chemical tools and methods for studying temporal aspects of transcriptional regulation in development and disease with a focus on cancer.
Dr. Koehler received a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Reed College in Portland, Oregon. She holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from Harvard University.
Rae Shaw is a new assistant professor in the School of Cinema at San Francisco State University. Shaw is an interdisciplinary media artist and educator creating innovative and provocative narratives across multiple disciplines of visual media, fiction/non-fiction, performance, and poetry.
Shaw earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature and language from the University of Chicago. She holds a master of fine arts degree in motion picture production and writing from the University of Miami.
Julie Albee, a Distinguished Professor of Education at Hannibal-LaGrange University in Hannibal, Missouri, was given the added duties of interim vice president of academic administration. She has served on the university’s faculty since 2003.
Dr. Albee earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Missouri Western State University. She holds a master’s degree in professional studies in education from Iowa State University, and a Ph.D. in higher-order literacy and urban and policy studies in higher education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
