Bonnie Lucero was appointed to the Neville G. Penrose Chair of Latin American Studies at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. She has been serving as an associate professor of history and director of the Center for Latino Studies at the University of Houston-Downtown. Her research focuses on the intersection of race and gender in colonial and post-colonial Latin America and the Caribbean, with an emphasis on Cuba.
Professor Lucero is a graduate of the School of International Studies at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. She earned a master’s degree in Latin American studies at the University of Cambridge in England and a Ph.D. in history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Danielle Dick is the inaugural holder of the Gregory Q. Brown Chair in Cell Biology and Neuroscience at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Rutgers University in New Jersey. She is a professor of psychiatry at the medical school and director of Rutgers Addiction Research Center. Professor Dick’s research looks to identify and characterize the risk associated with genes that influence addiction and substance use disorders. She is the author of The Child Code: Understanding Your Child’s Unique Nature for Happier, More Effective Parenting (Avery, 2021).
Professor Dick holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Virginia. She earned a Ph.D. in psychology from Indiana University.
Kristen Brennand, whose research integrates expertise in genetics, neuroscience, and stem cells to identify the mechanisms that underlie brain disease, was recently appointed the Elizabeth Mears and House Jameson Professor of Psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine. Earlier, she served on the faculty at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.
Dr. Brennard is a graduate of the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada, where she majored in biology. She holds a Ph.D. in molecular and cell biology from Harvard University.
