Lynn Bretz, the former director of University Communications at the University of Kansas, died at her home in Lawrence, Kansas, earlier this week after an 18-month battle with cancer. She was 62 years old.
University of Kansas Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little said, “Lynn Bretz loved this university and all of the people who call it home. She was a tireless advocate for KU, always working to make our university a better place.”
Bretz began her career as a writer and editor for the university and was named director of University Relations in 2002. Bretz was promoted to director of University Communications in 2006, a position she held until 2011. Prior to joining the staff at the University of Kansas, Bretz was a reporter for the Lawrence Journal-World and also wrote for Knight-Ridder’s Commodity News Services.
Bretz was a graduate of the University of Kansas and held a master’s degree in English from the University of Denver.
